"If, in a week, say 10 percent of those vaunted “values” voters (hey, torture is a value!) decide to see what's on Fox Family Channel instead of bothering to vote, the Democrats are going to have themselves a blow-out." For full article, click on http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/43719

WA: I have posted here a few times (few dozen or hundred?) about how the Christian radicals use various psychological techniques to influence (brainwash) the faithful. Some emulate Bush, beating the bass drum of key, hot button words, whether or not they have any relevance to what he's saying. Others, again like Bush, blatantly lie but leave a bit of wiggle room in case they are challenged.
And some, dear friends, are like the following, excerpted from Holland's article. The esteemed Reverend lays it on the line, stark and cold enough to chill the blood as we envision our democratic future :
(quote)
Let's begin with everybody's favorite, Pastor Swank [HT: Sadly, No!]:
"It's going to be horrific if Dems get control of government. In fact, there are no words to describe how horrible it will be to live in America if the irreligious Dems gain the driver's seat."
Swank fans know that when there are no words to describe a given horror, the good Pastor's never been shy about making one up.
"Dems are anti-God, anti-family, anti-morality, anti-Judeo-Christian heritage, anti-unborn children, anti-decency, anti-reason. They are, in short, basically demonic. Not all of them, of course, but that's the definition of the Dem agenda from a biblical study."
Tell us Pastor Swank, what do you really think?
"Therefore, for Dems to get the upper hand in the United States will spell more doom for this nation. Dems will strut their ugly stuff from coast to coast. It will not be a pleasant day for those who desire a biblically ethical base to everyday living. "
Shorter Pastor Swank: vote Republican or you'll have flag-burning, gay, Islamic child-pornographers performing abortions on every American streetcorner.
(end of quote)
WA: Granny and I seem to be somewhat Independent minded although both of us will probably vote Dem in this election. I never vote along party lines but rather for whomever appears the best choice, or more usually, the lesser of two evils. For the sake of argument, let's say that Granny and I are Dems. Merciful Heavens!! I never dreamed that a political affiliation would make us all those anti- things quoted above or to be demonic!! Now Granny, does that lovely white hair conceal sprouting hornlets? And is that a distinct whiff of sulphur emanating from you...?
See how the reverend and his ilk shape the minds of the devoted flocks? People trust and believe their pastors. Is this honesty from one supposedly living by Biblical Law and the precepts taught by Jesus??

Just for the record, I'm what is called in the south a "yellow dog" Democrat which means I'd vote for an old yaller dawg before I'd vote Republican.
Not precisely true; I can remember a few times when I crossed over but not lately. Even when I respect the candidate, I'm afraid of the outcome. Some decent Republican moderates have caved and toed the Bush/Cheney/Rove line. Out of fear? Who knows but I'm not willing to take the chance - not now.
I already know I'm doomed; all the very best people say so.

Nooooooo, how crazy that is!
This shows what we are facing and what the political stage of this country have turned into. Just plain hateful, and Dems, if they take control have to mend the people and bring people together.
"yellow dog" Democrat, Lol I', learning something, never heard that before? Granny, I never voted GOP, in the last four years that I could vote, so what's that call?
