WORRIED CHECKS IN
A quick check in. Am pressed for time. Mother is better - moved to critical care from ICU. Morphine decreased a bit so she's alert enough to give everyone fits about wanting to go home. She HATES being in-hospital.Discussions with doctors if she is determined terminal to allow her to go home under Hospice care. But more tests pending.
Scanned my newsies real quick this AM and deleted most - not into the pol. and hullaballoo scene right now. But one caught my eye that I had to check out. Not a complete report but ticked me off. What about our right to free speech? Attacking a cartoonist, for crying out loud!!
"Joint Chiefs Trying to Censor Cartoonist; letter sent to WaPo denouncing controversial panel"
http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/31710 (JW told me why the link didn't work. I changed it. It should work now. Thanks, JW)
My vision isn't good enough to read the comment in the tiny drawing of the post, but I can readily see it's about a quadruple amputee. Whatever got the Joint Chief's panties in a bundle is not clear to me, as the post didn't elaborate. But I do know this - benefits are continuing to be cut to veterans so the future for them is bleak.
The VA doctors know this. In one article by the NY Times about the wounded, an attending physician had this comment: "We expect to follow these patients for the rest of their lives ...But I have a great deal of concern about our country's long term committment to these individuals. Will the resources be there over time?" So it's thanks, but you're no use to us any more; accept responsibility for yourself.
My War blog is up and running but already fighting with Blogger about their format --post in beneath archives, profile which places it far down the page, with a huge blank space where post should be. Hope they fix it.
http://this-is-war.blogspot.com Bear in mind that some source urls are only good for 7 days then are archived by the publication. Some urls I'll post are from archives so should remain good. I always check before posting an url but sometimes the url is taken off in a few hours.

Link to cartoon has an error. This will work: http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/31710/
In the cartoon the doctor says, "I'm listing your condition as 'Battle Hardened'"
