Budget Bill passed by House
The House of Representatives passed the Budget Bill on a 216-214 vote today. Democrats held firm and several Republicans voted no - just not quite as many as we needed.
The Bill is a disaster of course. At the same time, the Senate passed a tax cut bill which I'll have to go back and look at later. My Senators split their vote.
Here's the Washington Post recap of some of the more inhumane provisions of the Bill.
We needed three more votes. I hope I'm not beating a dead horse but elections are coming up.
Today was busy and I didn't see that much in the news that wasn't a rehash except for this. I'll check around the other blogs and see what I can steal. Maybe tomorrow - it's almost midnight and I have to write to Representative Cardoza. He kept his promise to vote against the bill. He's a "blue dog" fiscal conservative in many respects but he's a good human being.
