ONCE AGAIN, WITH FEELING, "I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG"
I SUGGEST YOU READ THE PREVIOUS POST BEFORE YOU READ THIS ONE.
What arouses suspicion in the minds of the NSA, FBI, and CIA that one is a terrorist? Ethnicity and religion, right? What arouses suspicion in the same stalwarts that one is a terrorist sympathizer and perhaps collaborator? I hope it isn't the following:
"A husband and wife team. The husband was employed by an American firm that had many international contracts. The male suspect spent time in Iran where he established contact with numerous natives and is known to have learned to speak Farsi. He accepted deployment to Algeria on two occasions where he again established contacts with the natives and learned to speak Arabic.During his second deployment to Algeria he also became closely involved with Philippino workers and continued that relationship after he left the country. It is a known fact that many Philippinos are Muslims and some have been members of terrorist groups. He then accepted deployment to Saudi Arabia, and later two deployments to Indonesia where he became very closely involved with a number of the natives and even cohabited with some of them. Following his usual pattern, he learned to speak the language. As with the Philippinos, it is a known fact that a large percentage of Indonesians are Muslims and there are terrorist groups or cells there. This man also had posting to Australia but there is no record of suspicious activity there.
The female accompanied her husband on some of his duty tours and spent several years in Algeria. Her passport does not reflect any record of her accompanying other expatriates to Morocco or Libya, or to the interior of Africa. She did, however, make frequent trips across the Mediterranean to England, Switzerland, Italy, France and Spain, where she would withdraw sums of money from the local banks. Her trips were ostensibly for shopping or, in the company of the male, on holiday. She is known to have become deeply involved on a social level with the Algerian natives and some were daily visitors to her home. She also made excursions around the country in the company of natives. After her definitive return to the U.S. she corresponded regulary with a number of the Algerians, invited them to visit her in the U.S. and did host several who accepted her invitation. One remained a guest in her home for nearly 6 months. She is overtly sympathetic to the Arabs and has a large collection of Algerian art works, ceramics, and books. She also corresponded via mail and by phone with a Jordanian that she met in Algeria but who had returned to Jordan. This man was a Palistinian by birth but resided in Jordan. On two occasions she wired funds to the man's Jordanian bank. After her repatriation to the U.S. she established social contacts with several Pakistanis and Arabs, and is known to have frequented their food stores and restaurants. This woman was involved in political dissent many years ago and continues these activities now, primarily on the internet and through letters and emails.
This pair's close and continued involvement with Muslims, hosting them in their home, and wiring funds to Jordan raise a red flag and indicates the need for investigation."

If they can arrest an American attorney and make preparations to charge him with treason, which bears a death penalty, for nothing more than the fact he had converted to Islam and had once defended a man accused of terrorism, how would they interpret the above scenario?
Every word of that scenario is true of me and my husband. Suspicious activity, or innocent friendliness, enjoying other human beings and experiencing their culture. It depends on the spin one puts on it. A good spin doc could build a very compelling case on the facts as presented here. It would all be hogwash.
