BUT I DON'T KNOW ANY MUSLIMS, SO I'M SAFE!
You think so? Do you disagree with any thing going on in our country today? Do you disagree with the President's wars, his abrogation of civil and human rights all over the world as well in the U.S.? Do you agree with his policy of allowing torture, of signing the anti-torture bill yet retaining his power to allow it?
Do you agree with his and his advisor's "Reinterpretation of the Constitution"? For a really tick you off article on this, check out that promote- my -career- regardless -of- the -cost- to- America -Yoo, at http://tinyurl.com/8han9 Read it and rave, and understand why Bush thinks he can get away with making himself king/dictator/the anointed by God to do what he does. (Bush appears to be a megalomaniac and may be inspired by his personal lust for power and desire to establish a Bush Legacy, but he is also primed and supported by powerful "power behind the throne" organizations. More on that later; remember this post).
Do you agree with his intimacy and involvement with the Christian Right, such as the Religious Right, Christian Coalition, the Reconstructionist Movement? (Set your search engine on the latter and see if you really want a theocratic, fascist, totalitarian regime - which is the direction he is leading this nation).
Do you disagree with his attitude, "I am the President and I can do anything I want?" (as in a French king's assertion, "l'etat est moi" - I am the State. And forgive my rusty French if the quote is not exact but the meaning is).
Do you blog your disagreements, do you comment on blogs in support of anti- any of these subjects, do you email, talk on the phone about these things or speak out against them, do you demonstrate against them in any way?
Did you answer yes to any of these questions? Then, my friend, you dissent, and you are a dissident. And you are not safe. Under the guise of protecting us from terrorists, rooting out terrorists and collaborators, our government essays to stifle dissent, to prevent the people from interfering with his blatant power grab.
As one of many good articles on this, I refer you to Granny's December 28,2005 archived post, "Ted Rall Today". If you haven't read it, I recommend you do so; if you did read it, I suggest you read it again.
I hope the link is still active; it was as of this writing. So many links are discontinued by the publishers after a set period of time.

Other examples of the government minions spying on and investigating (frightening or angering) ordinary citizens, including children, can be found at: http://www.progressive.org/McCarthy . The author of this article records all violations of civil liberties that he can find. If you think you're safe, read this. Stifling dissent seems to be the primary aim, not searching for Osama and other terrorists.
Quotes from Ted Rall: "...using the war on terrorism as a pretext for harassing their real enemies: liberals and others who criticize the policies..."
"Bush ordered the NSA, FBI, and CIA to tap phone and emails of such dangerously subversive radical Islamist, anti-American groups as Greenpeace, PETA, American Indian Movement, and the Catholic Works." Further in the article he also names "the ACLU"; ofcourse, how could they be left out?
"...the New York Times reports, 'the NSA has gained the cooperation of American telecommunication companies to obtain back door access to streams of domestic and international communications'."
"...only in a totalitarian regime may a legal theory be created that imbues the leader, as the personal embodiment of the State, with inherent powers. ...the Nazi fuhrer principle, in which the head of State was answerable to no one, and the legislative and judicial branches of government were reduced to rubber stamps, required Hitler to assign himself inherent powers."
Can't happen here in the land of the free? Think again. Look what is happening in the U.S., not just an isolated incident here and there but an all out attack and power grab to bolster and implement long range plans.
Stifling citizen dissent is but one of the attacks to achieve the goals.I am a dissident, Granny is a dissident, you, dear readers and commenters , are dissidents. Thousands of bloggers and article authors are dissidents. The government can't silence all of us?
Look what China did to their blogging and emailing dissidents; all that has to be done by a government is to prevail upon the provider of such material to cease and desist publishing -- and we are silenced. Another way is to prosecute a sampling of bloggers/writers as examples to other dissidents and make them afraid to write.
Well, as for me "give me liberty or give me death".

Hmm, I usually don't read through lengthy posts (I am a more visual oriented blogger) but I did stick it through your rambling. Reason for that is that you don't make one, but several valid point. Thanks for the compilation. Let's beat, not beat around, the bush as long as we can.

thanks for visiting ... my blog that is. Yes, I love how nature shapes and sculpts in its own pace and lawfulnes. (Maine pictures - where my heart is found under rocks).
I am in constant debate with myself of how to present (for me and others) the enchroaching facism that is developing in the US. Sometimes I think humor is the way to go, sometimes I just wish to shock - and then again, it is all a tapestry. So there must be a balance. It is like making a weave, finding a pattern that others can assimilate - from redneck to bourgeois bleu-neck...
