Making Our Heroes Snoop on Us?

Most Americans and people worldwide have great respect and admiration for their Fire Fighters.

Do we want this corrupt government to make them serve as snoops for Homeland Security? Well, it has started, all in the name of fighting terrorism. Once the program is established, the scope of their snooping duties will probably be widened (I don't trust the government).

See lower part of post below for link.

I think it stinks! When the facts become widespread knowledge, I believe it will contribute to distrust and resentment towards our firefighters and Medical personnel - people in whom the public NEEDS to have trust.

And bull crap on that "if you don't have anything to hide....". As a patriotic, law abiding, old fashioned citizen, I have nothing to hide but I still resent snooping into my private living quarters. Also, innocuous items can be misjudged in today's terror climate and the idiots in Homeland Security (to whom our Fire Fighters would have to report.

For instance, taped to the inside of my front door, I have a huge, detailed color map of Houston. To a forgetful great-grandma, it helps me orientate myself to a destination as I exit on errands. For sentimental reasons, I also have a bw map of CC, my home town. To put the frosting on the suspicion cake, I have a (gasp!) hippie days copy of an Anarchists CookBook that I confiscated from a hippie when doing druggie volunteer work back in the day. (It is beside the point that many of the destructive things in the book are actually laughable compared to the evil available on the internet these days). To the morons on Homeland Security, these would be a red flag! Then, if they did an investigation of this old woman deemed a potential terrorist, in my storage facility they may find remnants of the research I did in the Cuban Crisis era when the Family at large was planning a shelter. The material contains topographical maps, weather maps of prevailing winds in proposed shelter sites (to track potential fallout, etc..). OOOOO!! These would be proof positive that I and my family was planning bad-bad no-nos. Crap!! Off to the water boards!

This is bad enough. But I'm worried about the next occupant of the white house. Will he/she be smart enough to dig the constitution out of the trash and hang it back in the front window.......or will they keep these programs. and add more?

Yeek, Daniel! We must delete all avatars forewith! Scoundrels, all, who would subvert an avatar depicting the Buddha. Sacrilege!
So I've read that the technology is doable for including surveillance equipment in our TVs a la "1984".When will we be forced to listen/view Fundamentalist sermons X number of hours per day? Fate worse than death! No place to hide.

FWY; Be afraid; be very afraid! Seriously, citizens SHOULD evaluate their choice of candidates very very carefully and hope to hell we get someone who will restore our rights and freedoms as well as the Constitution.
