Impeach or Not Impeach: That is the Question

Regular readers here know that I am in favor of impeaching the chief criminals in the White House - Bush and Cheney - and would like nothing better than to see them punished for their criminal acts: lying to the public in order to advance their ambitions to become an imperial power in the world, engaging in illegal wars (Iraq and aid to Israel in war on Lebanon) that have resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, injuries and displacement of innocent civilians as well as destruction of infrastructure of attacked nations, deaths and injuries of our own military citizens, waste of nearly a trillion dollars on war, crushing national debt, violation of our Constitution and most basic freedoms, taking actions that transform our free, democratic country into a theocratic-corporate fascist nation, earning the hatred and contempt of most of the world and gaining a reputation as a "rogue nation", and...and...and...! I could go on for pages in a virulent rant of outraged fury.

However, apparently there is another side of the impeachment story. I am always willing to hear both sides of an issue. Sometimes patience is required. After all, we have nearly 2 years to investigate, gain solid proof to present to the citizens and then hit them like a ton of bricks. And hopefully, expose all the neocon rats (and predecessors) that helped construct the monstrosity that this administration has become. WA

Impeachment: Morally Right vs. Politically Wrong (click on titles to access articles)

Jennifer Van Bergen David Corn
December 08, 2006

Why Impeachment Is Crucial
Jennifer Van Bergen : "The choice is not between impeachment and Iraq, or impeachment and ethics, or impeachment and the budget. Impeachment proceedings are not the beginning but the end result of a healing process for the nation that needs to begin now. Impeachment begins with investigations."

Impeachment At Our Peril
David Corn : "The matter of impeachment, like most issues in the real world, cannot be considered in a vacuum. The key question is not whether there is a case, but whether it should be prosecuted. The Democrats would do so at their peril—and at risk to their agenda, which includes stopping the war in Iraq."

Also from Tom Paine; we might call this music to impeach by.

Not to weigh in on one side of the impeachment argument, but Neil Young's "Let's Impeach The President" video does make a pretty good case.
