TODAY'S THE DAY: FIGHT TO THE FINISH
THE PRO-BUSH, PRO-ALITO, ANTI-ABORTION GROUPS ARE CALLING FOR AN ALL OUT BLITZ TODAY TO CINCH ALITO'S NOMINATION. THE OPPOSITION NEEDS TO CREATE THEIR OWN BLITZ. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO WAVER.
Granny usually does the Alternet news and she may be busily typing in a post right now. But I will post also, just in case, because this is so important. PLEASE read the following articles and carry on the fight.
The consequences of Alito's confirmation will plague America for the life of his term and afterwards by precedences he sets.
"Fireworks on Alito", by Mary Lynn F. Jones; Alternet. "The real fight over Bush's controversial Supreme Court Nominee begins today."
http://www.alternet.org/rights/30507
"The President's Man", by Ruth Coniff, The Progress. "A Roberts-Alito Supreme Court would grant the Chief Executive almost unlimited powers." (This would carry on for many Presidential terms in office.)
http://www.alternet.org/rights/30744
"Are We Getting Borked Again?", by Martin Garbus; HuffingtonPost.com
"The difference between Robert Bork, John Roberts, and Samuel Alito are differences of style, not substance."
http://www.alternet.org/rights/30646
Women! Abortion is NOT the only women's issue at stake! Read this!
"Alito: A Defeat for Working Women", by Martha Burk; Ms. Magazine
"Alito's confirmation, if it happens, could effectively torpedo female workplace rights for a generation."
http://www.alternet.org/rights/30645
After all, Bush's buddies, the Christian Reconstructionists, want women out of the workplace, at home where they belong, tending the home, rearing and educating the children (no more public schools after a time), and attending to their husbands' needs and comforts. He, as Head of the home and master of the family, would be the breadwinner.
In previous work, when there was a division in the court, Alito ruled 85% of the time against civil rights.
I realize that everyone is short on time but these are short articles and very important.
