More on Hi-tech Spying.

The ability to track an individual's movements is old news to anyone like me who is addicted to Law and Order (all of them) and CSI (Las Vegas only). It's been used successfully in crime solving; probably much like a GPS system in a car. Like anything electronic these days, it's neither good nor bad but it's certainly open to abuse.

My cell phone is turned on in my pocket whenever I leave the house. I need to be reachable. I'm not crazy about being watched as I journey from the school to the grocery store to the pharmacy or the doctor and back home.

Face the Nation is talking about phone records now. Maybe I should listen to Hadley talk out of both sides of his face.

My exciting life.

This is just the beginning. The NSA has been spying on Internet activity for YEARS, and has been collecting data through ECHELON for who knows how long. What really bothers me is that the majority of Americans don't seem to care. I'm really glad that I moved to the EU. The U.S. is beginning to terrify me (and everyone on this side on the Pond as well).

Take a good look around, my dear. Brittain, the EU, all of them are hand in glove with the US on global domination; they spout lip service of disapproval to pacify the natives but behind the scenes they are right beside the US.

One day everyone "across the pond" will wake up and discover they are under the heel of the imperialists -- just like our American sheeple will.

Dear Native Texan, Britain is a member of the EU--and has a very different stance towards the U.S. than does the rest of the EU. BTW, who are "all of them"? Who are "they"--Europe has many countries. It doesn't help to spout generalities.

The difference here is that people do protest (loudy) and effect change. The nature of parliamentary government also requires cooperation and coalition--something the two party system lacks.

Do a bit of research, and you will be amazed and even more terrified, I guarantee you. Wake up and smell the coffee.

When the whole of the industrialized world is involved, it isn't "generalities". There's no sense in doing a roll call.

People protest loudly, so the governments throw them a sop to quiet them, but quietly go on with their plans until the deluded EU sheeple are just as surprised as the US ones are. Just like Bush is scrambling right now to toss a sop to the Americans to shush them, but if anyone thinks he has changed his megalomaniac mind, they're silly.
