A good blog. Photos of Samarra and the mosque in ruins on This Is War. I think I've taken the post off draft. If not, I will. I can scarcely bear all the photos, any of them, but I look and am so torn and I weep. Looking at Iraq, the cities, the little towns, the people - a mix of biblical times, inbetween, and modern - and I see those I lived with for several years in N. Africa and came to know and love as friends, some like family, and dammit I can't stand it! And the knowledge that we, my country, are the ones destroying these people, their world, hurts and shames me so badly.
One of my newsies offers the opinion this civil strife is part of the US exit strategy, to escape gracefully from an unwinnable situation. I do not agree. I think it was fomented and urged on by the US to give us an excuse to STAY. Why else are we building all those permanent bases there? The US and UK, policemen of the world, will have to step in an restore order. HAH!

You know what Kissinger said a long time ago, "Oil is much too important to be left in the hands of the Arabs." The US and UK has been meddling in Middle East affairs for nearly a century - or longer.

Progressive and Dimitri; what is your take on this? If you visit, I'd like to hear your opinions.

The UK and Europe has been meddling in the affairs of the Middle East for a thousand years, begining with the crusades.

Riverbend writes very well, she must be terrified much of the time and reamins very calm.

Like you I have a hard time some days because I just end up crying all day.
