Afghan Prison - worse than Guantanamo?

I was on my way to bed (just about to turn off computer for night) when Slate came in with this front page article from the NYT.

You may have to log in to the NYT to read it but it's not behind the fire wall so shouldn't be a problem.

There is a TV programme this week about three English boys that were held at Guantanamo Bay.

    I'll keep you posted

The younger genberation doesn't know or doiesn't remember Stalin's gulags and habit of imprisoning people for decades or a lifetime without evidence of wrongdoing. Or Hitler's arrest and imprisonment and torture of "suspects" on little or no evidence, often just a word from another citizen. We as a nation deplored and decried those actions -- and now we do the same.
But, WE aren't being imprisoned YET so why worry? We play the "ain't it awful" game and talk, talk, talk but we DO nothing.
