All 50 Governors and the National Guard

I said I was going to stay away from the subjects Worried American covers so well but since I have an Army veteran son now serving in the National Guard, this is of special interest to me.

Seems like the state governors have figured it out as well.

We all know are soldiers aren't properly supplied with the equipment they need. As Rumsfeld proudly said "we go to war with the weapons we have". Did he mean barefoot soldiers, no armor, and antiquated vehicles? What did he mean by that callous, unfeeling statement?

To me it means that in spite of their pious proclamations about our brave soldiers, they just don't care.

Now what available equipment there is has been shipped overseas leaving the National Guard in the states without the means to perform what should be their duty. Floods, hurricanes, fires take their toll here every year. Remember Katrina and Rita?

The National Guard should be at home doing the jobs it was meant to do with the equipment necessary to perform those duties.

(If anyone read this before and thought I was nuts, sorry. A phone rang and I got distracted. I didn't realize I had a paragraph or two left to write.)

From truthout today.

All I can say to your post is, "Amen". I couldn't agree more.

Granny Ann: Absolutely our Natl Guard should be home... defending our NATION, hence the name NATIONAL Guard. And I am at a complete loss for words in reference to your needle dicked troll who feels the need to degrade your age.
So would this asshat prefer that all people say past age 50 be made to jump off a cliff per the govt's orders? THAT is certainly a pro-life and compassionate conservative stance, eh?
Well, if so, he better wise the hell up. If his pathetic hate spewing ass is 41, age 50 is just right around the corner for him.
Sorry for my rant... I'm sure he received no parenting after he was shit out on a tree stump by his cretin momma... how else could his hatred toward grandmothers be explained? Talk about a Freudian nightmare.

Tina, you have echoed one of my many favorite rants: what part of N-A-T-I-O-N-A-L G-U-A-R-D do our fearless leaders NOT understand?

After Katrina when the La. Governor wanted to call the La. Ntl Guard home to aid in New Orleans, ofcourse our government said they could not be spared from duty in Iraq. The La. Guard was familiar with the unique culture and customs and patois of many of the residents of N.O. and would have been well suited to disaster work with their own people. But who did Busy-Baby send? His private army, the notorious civilian mercenary "security" firm Blackwater, authorized to use deadly force against American citizens, who did their own thing, did little if no cooperating with the lawful police authorities and definitely did NOT work under their supervision. I agreed wholeheartedly with our La. neighbors who resented having a private civilian "army" patrolling American streets and having authority to shoot to kill American citizens. We have legal authorities of the law to safeguard our cities, and if American citizens must be shot, let it be by legal authorities, not hired thug killers.
Blackwater was in Afghanistan and Iraq, ostensibly as "security" for VIPs but they engaged in black ops also. Do you remember the 2 American "security" guards for "contractors" that were slaughtered, mutilated, burned and hung from a bridge outside Fallujah in Iraq? ( I have photos of that). They were Blackwater. Now tell me, in the heat of the fierce battle for Fallujah, what in the heck were contractors' security guards doing in the thick of it? Does anyone really think that the civilian contractors were in the thick of that battle, too, and needed the protection of their security guards? You can bet your bippy that American civilians were well out of the danger zone until Fallujah was neutralized and secured.
Those Blackwater people are NOT security guards, although they may guard VIPs at times; they are hired mercenaries with considerable notoriety. Google them and see.
I started to do a post on them shortly after Katrina but held back, not wanting to appear radical. I wasn't quite sure how the readers would take it. But I've gotten so enraged and sick at heart I'm considering taking the gloves off and ka-blooey!! If readers want to flee from a perceived crackpot, so be it.
