OUR BLOGGING FRIENDS: GOOD PEOPLE
Our blogging friends may be dissenters but they are good people, all. Just today in the few blogs I had time to surf, several had touching and/or uplifting stories to tell. Some I mentioned in the post below. Our Canadian friend, Gary at http://withinsight.blogspot.com, in Jan.24 post titled "A Little Story on the Lighter Side" tells of a marvelous experience he had. Human touches like his and Dimitri's demonstrate our common humanity, regardless of race or creed or nationality.
Gary is a member of Amnesty International and the web site for them is an interesting read. Canada: www.amnesty.ca and U.S. http://www.amnesty.org. This organization works very hard against human rights violations. They give names and addresses to write to protest violations.
Gary, can anyone write to those addresses to protest violations even if they aren't on AI's list? Like the ones in the Jan. 23 post "Spying, Arrest, and Detention..." re: the detainees held in Kuwait, http://www.kuwaitfreedom.org or the children confined to abusive camps as Granny described in her Jan.23 post "Teen Rehab or Torture Chamber". One of my former daughters-in-law spent time as a teen in one of those places and her experiences were enraging and heartbreaking.
We have so many political problems to address but human rights violations, here or abroad, have political ramifications also, and suffering needs to be alleviated. There are so many wrongs in the world.
