DID YOU MISS IT??

I know that most of you are busy and have limited free time.Between work, home and family duties, your newspaper, TV news and perhaps a little recreational TV, Internet news, maintaining your blog, checking out other blogs, surfing the 'net, etc..., there isn't a whole lot of time to devote to reading more news bits and especially speeches. Speeches are usually a bore, anyway, right?

Granny's link below, "Okay - so I was wrong," is the text of Gore's speech and is not at all boring. He delivers a scathing recap of President Bush's power grab, violations, and illegal actions, and a powerful warning to the American people.

In essence, Wake Up, America! AMERICA IS BURNING ! "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country." If Bush succeeds in his power grab, we stand to lose basic freedoms, to become a totalitarian state. Now, in our children's time, and generations to come.

We are in a war on the homefront and we, the citizens, are the soldiers in this war. The Alito battle and all the other bad news has left us tired, emotionally and physically. We are drained, discouraged and disheartened, reluctant to engage in another battle. But like soldiers on every battlefront we must "gird up our loins" and fight the good fight. Our nation and freedoms depend on it.

Our president must, MUST, be reined in, his criminal grab for power "in perpetuity" - that's forever, folks - has to be stopped and reversed. The House and Senate are the bodies with the power and authority to do this but they will act only if they are goaded and given incentive by the citizens. The only thing they fear is the loss of votes, the loss of their own positions of power, prestige, and positions of authority.

The only way the common man has to instill that fear in them is by inundating them with objections. As I mentioned before in a previous post, politicians love numbers and percentages. Their aides and staff report how many citizen messages, what percentage for or against, so they "feel the pulse" of the people.

Citizens are up against powerful adversaries: Bush's backers, the megacorporations, big business and the rich, and the millions of Religious Right and Christian Coalition members. The latter, urged on by their leaders -Robertson and cohorts- will not flag in their battle to support Bush. Neither will the big money people.

It is time to take up arms again. Our pens, our voices are our weapons and we must be heard. So once more into the breach: emails, letters. faxes, phone calls. Enlist everyone you can to do likewise. Bush has snarled an angry denial, "I am not a dictator" but he is certainly attempting to be, and lay the groundwork for America to become a dictatorship, or uncrowned kingship . For many years moves have been being made to create a Fascist government.
