I want to call our readers' attention to a young man, a blogger, who posted on our comment page. His posts are brief, concise, and cogent re: issues of today and attentive to hunger in this rich nation of ours.

His post "Extreme Poverty in US has Increased 26% Under Bush" is pertinent to mine and Granny's recent posts on this vital domestic issue. Another of Scott's posts reveals another disgraceful domestic issue: "US Murder Rates Rival Iraq War Zone". There is no easy, simplistic answer to the violence and crime in our country, but poverty is a contributing factor. Drugs numb the misery, and crime supports a drug habit. Dealing drugs is a very lucrative business and quickly alleviates poverty - and increases violence. The disenfranchised are often angry at society and lash out in rage and hatred with violence and often murder.
