I don't think I've left my house since Saturday. I've been sick with that dadgum flu bug. I think I will try and go back to work tomorrow.

I was supposed to help with the 3000th Memorial for those who have been killed in Iraq, but was too sick. It was at Memorial Park. The weather pretty much squashed the ceremonies though. Oh well...that's how it goes. I really hated to miss that. Over 3,000 flags were set up with names of each troop killed. There was a section for Texas, plus a memorial for contractors and Iraqi civilians.

Here's some advice from one of those who is used to this sort of thing. The pro's aren't kidding folks, remember to layer your clothing with natural fibers closest to your skin, and wear a warm hat if you have to go out. It really does work.

Most importantly, watch out for your feet. If they get wet get them dry as soon as possible, and again, use layers of socks in oversized boots.

By the time your done, you may look like the Michelin Man but you'll stay warmer. Take care all.

    Peace,
    Fiona

Yellowdog Granny: some of that "liquid sunshine", as we say in Houston?? Just so it isn't frozen liquid sunshine.

Mart: You were on my email list for tonight. I've been concerned about you and your health but didn't want to pry. Glad that you are ok and hope you are over the bug.

Fiona: Thanks for the cold weather tips. My youngest showed up here today wearing an unlined denim jacket and high heeled boots, then fussed because she was freezing!!
Gulf Coasters do not know how to dress for frigid weather. I nearly froze to death in Pennsylvania one winter with nothing but Gulf Coast winter wear.

PT: sorry about your battery but may have been a blessing in disguise to keep you off the highway today. But you know another storm is on the way. Do be safe. You will drive carefully but you know its all the dorks out there that do not know how to navigate in bad conditions that are the most dangerous.

Thank you all for checking in.

As I type, we're getting light sleet (SC), and there is a winter storm warning until about noon tomorrow, but nothing like those poor souls in Texas and Michigan are putting up with. The Prof's school has already cancelled, so now it's hope the electricity doesn't fail us.

FWY: Thank you for checking in. Glad you are ok. Little by little our friends are letting us know they are well and surviving this bad weather.

Still waiting on Daniel about the terrible fires in his general area (adjoining state).
