AlterNet: Lobbying for Armageddon

------------------------------------
Lobbying for Armageddon
http://www.alternet.org/story/39748

Some influential evangelical leaders are lobbying for an attack on Iran. But it's not about geopolitics -- it's about bringing about the End Times.

**********************************************************************************

They believe that by initiating WWIII conditions can be brought about to bring on Armegaddon and ultimately the return of Jesus, the Messiah. The Zionists believe it will bring about the appearance of the "true" Messiah (they do not recognize Jesus as such), and the extremist Muslims believe it will bring about the return of the 12th Iman. Each has their own agenda.

Don't forget - Bush and the neocons are hand in glove with the fundamentalists and many share their beliefs; others merely share their goals of world domination.

see- i don't believe in jesus- i think he was a jewish man who got executed 3,000 or so years ago or whatever. however, if i did believe- isn't it the height of pretentiousness and ego to attempt to force him to return to earth earlier than he wants to by mucking things up in the middle east? don't ya think it might make him a wee bit angry? height of hubris- and definitely not meek and humble.

No matter what we believe or don't believe, their version of Christianity is twisted.

The fundamentalists are a scary bunch but I guess in the cosmic grand scheme of things, it's only fitting that every culture/geographical area gets their extremists, I mean, who are we kidding to think that there could be peace on earth? And that without any religious influence at that! How arrogant. Serves us right, no peace on earth when there are still these guys around..tss

DA, if they don't believe that Bush is God himself, they act as if he is the Holy Anointed. After all, doesn't Bush claim that he has these little fireside chats with God, and God tells him what to do? (In my psychology classes in nursing school I was taught about people who hear voices - and many of the voices are gods or demons. Studies over the years have not changed the psychiatric opinions on this subject--and the sufferers sure as heck weren't chatting with God. The docs had an entirely different diagnosis. :-) )

Betmo, from what I learned in Sunday School about the Almighty, Power of the Universe, etc.. it seems unlikely to me that He needs these dorks to help Him decide when to send Jesus back to earth. I would think a being that powerful could make up His own mind without prompting from Man.

Yellowdog Granny, I agree with your goddess.

Ingrid, in every culture it appears there just has to be some troublemaking bunch of power seeking megalomaniacs who want to rule the world and think that their way is the only way. The terrible thing about it is that so many innocent people have to suffer and die before the s.o.b.s are crushed.

PeppyLady, all three of these religions - Christian, Jew, and Muslim - believe in the same God, the God of Abraham and Isaac. Yet all three have entirely different viewpoints and beliefs. Strange in a way, yet Man can screw up anything he sets his mind to.
