Why I Don't Argue With Cretins

From Carl of Simply Left Behind via Echidne of the Snakes

It's what I'm fond of calling an Alice in Wonderland conversation. There's no way I can win so I don't even try.

Look what happens when we do.

By the way, I recommend both of these blogs. I just found Simply Left Behind but I look at Echidne's posts every day.

    ...as did I.

By the way, this post reminds me of an ongoing theory I have that I bring up from time to time, challenging right-wing commenters to prove me wrong, and so far none have been able to do so.

It is that every right-wing commenter who has ever, ever, ever commented in my blog, or in blogs to which I contribute, is a complete and total extremist psycho who is a combination Bush regime apologist and religious fundmentalist/extremeist whose rebuttal to a criticism of Bush administration policy is inevitably a personal attack combined with accusations of complicity with terrorists, etc.

Still waiting for a sensible wingnut to appear...

Y'all need to learn, or remember, something when you are dealing with Shrubberal worshippers.

The facts of any given issue are irrelevant-therse people are zealots, and the Chimperor is their Deity. Their faith tells them that El Shrubbo can do no wrong, and no amount of factual truth will penetrate any zealot, whether he's passing out flowers at the airport or praising a demonstrable lifetime failure.

We have discussed the worshipping faithful at Reconstitution many times, and they are all the same person, really.

Perfect example of an exercise in futility.

I used that Goldwater quote (or one similar) a while back here. I didn't agree with a lot of what he said but he was on target there.

    He must be spinning.

Interesting you should being up Goldwater. As a native Arizonan, I remember reading an interview with him in his later years. He had remarried a much younger woman, I think, and she must have "liberalized" him, because his opinions on a lot of subjects had moved so far to the left, you could have knocked me over with a feather. Today, the opinions he held in his later years would have been regarded by modern "conservatives" as treasonous lefty stuff. It just goes to show that it's never too late for one to reexamine one's values and adjust them appropriately.
