The drug company allegedly bills Medicare/Medicaid at inflated rates and the hospital or treatment center pockets the difference.

Before BushCo collaborated with the drug companies and insurance companies to rake in billions in profits at the exoense of the nation's elderly and the taxpayers, Medicaid provided medications for the poor.
Because their purchases from the pharmaceutical companies were so great, they were able to negotiate for bulk rates.
Now there are no negotiations nor bulk rates; pharmaceutical companies charge what the traffic will bear, at a tremendous profit.
