WORRIED COMMENTS

First:
RE: KVatch's comment on 2/11 post "USA Patriot Act." If you didn't do it, go back and click on his highlighted sentence. It will take you to a good comment about the Patriot Act...and a warning. For those who have noted the debate between reader Greg and our readers, Granny and Worried, check out Kvatch's rebuttal in comments on "From Worried American - Check it out." Kvatch makes good points there and ones we may adopt when in similar debates. Kvatch's blog is Blognonymous, http://blognonymous.com.
Second:
Re: Granny's post about that awful woman. Would the audience have applauded had she used the racist terms "nigger", "kike", "wop", "dumb Swede", or any other equally demeaning and denigrating epithets? To call people of Arab or Middle Eastern ethnic or national origin "ragheads" or "sand niggers" (another racial epithet used for people of that origin) is as foul as any other racist term. I HATE THAT!! That is so evil and small minded. Had she spoken of "terrorists" the audience would have had reason to applaud, but NOT if she used the all-inclusive term she did.

All of humanity is related, descending from the same original race, whether you want to say Adamic descent or evolutionary descent from early Homo Sapiens. All of Christiandom and some of other religions believe that mankind was created by an Almighty Power of the Universe, God, if you will. That being so, we are all of earth's peoples brothers, varying slightly in genetic characteristics through dispersement and possibly small mutations. But we all are the SAME RACE, else we could not interbreed.

We are a multi-ethnic nation, the so called melting pot. We have opportunity to know many cultures and sub-cultures in our country. My husband was employed by a petro-chemical company and traveled and worked all over the world; I accompanied him to some of his duty posts, plus I traveled to other countries on holiday, visiting or shopping sprees. I have had occasion to get to know peoples of many countries, many cultures and one outstanding thing I learned that ALL peoples are just that -- PEOPLE. Fellow human beings. Brothers in the human family. It ill behooves us to pull the Ugly American act and despise and look down on our fellows.
Not all Muslims are Arabs or "ragheads". There are many races who embrace Islam. Being a Muslim does not automatically equate to terrorist, no more so that being Christian automatically equates with Klu Klux Klan, White Supremacist, Neo-Nazi and other hate groups who do their foul deeds in the name of Christianity. The vast majority of the Muslims of this world are NOT terrorists. They are good, decent, hard working family orientated folk no different than you or me, and are no more responsible for the actions of their government or of hate groups than we are responsible for our Bush administration's actions and policies or the actions of our own home grown hate groups.
