SEVERAL SUBJECTS
I have several subjects I want to address before I comment on the video, "No Bravery"
PENTAGON SNOOPING ON PRIVATE CITIZENS, NOT JUST TERRORIST SUSPECTS; ABROGATION OF FREE SPEECH, CIVIL RIGHTS
The First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people to peacefully assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
You've read Granny's article about the VA nurse being accused of sedition. An Air Marshall was removed from duty and placed under investigation because he criticized a magazine story about Air Marshalls.Apparently the fellow employee to whom he spoke reported him; how else would the authorities know about a private conversation? He sued the HSA people, the government contested, but a judge ruled he had the right and could sue. Read the whole story at:

Is America Burning has had posts on this subject in the past. Archived January 24, "But I Don't Know Any Muslims So I'm Safe" and January 26 "The Power Madness of King George."
An url listed in one of those articles has been changed; I hope the new one stays good. It is the McCarthyism Watch, by the Progressive. Http://progressive.org/?q=taxonomy/term/19
If it doesn't work, http://progressive.org and click on McCarthyism Watch. On his postings, click on "more" under a paragraph subject that interests you.
There are scads of incidents he has compiled reporting the snoop- spooks "threat" investigations, including a Quaker anti-war meeting. The very foundation of the Quakers' beliefs is non-violence, so how could they be a terrorist threat? Another was Code Pink, a ladies anti-war group (to which I just signed a petition against the war. Omigod, is the HSA, FBI, and CIA coming after me? If they haul me in will they allow me to take my walking cane, or will it be viewed as a dangerous weapon? I'm sure they won't let me take my electric scooter. I might flee on it and become a figitive from justice. Go, Granny, Go.) Yet another was a group of anti-war elderly ladies like me and Granny. During a meeting with an officer they served tea and cookies. VERY dangerous terrorist threats!! Seems to me the only "threat" presented was opposition to Bush's war policies. Dissent must be crushed!! And another group investigated was --get this -- A chapter of Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition!! PLEASE!!
So all the complacent sheeple who think Bush's unrestrained spying on citizens is harmless and "protecting our country against terrorists", better think again. He does not restrict his spying to questionable correspondence between local and international individuals; he spies on perfectly ordinary citizens who offer the barest breath of dissent. Terrify them, intimidate them, try to silence them. Others take heed and be silent also lest they be "investigated". The practise is also divisive, destroying citizen trust and unity. Many persons and groups were reported by other citizens for spite, vengeance , a desire to be "important" for a few minutes, or whatever motivates such creeps.
I'm not silenced and I don't think Granny will be either., unless our ISPs collaborate with the government to restrict our internet service. But I still have my typewriter, the mail still runs, and my phone works. That's how I used to do it and I can do it again. I am old, handicapped, in poor health and I don't think I have too many years left (I don't expect to have my Mother's longevity) and if I have to spend a short time remaining in one of Bush's detention/concentration camps he's having Halliburton build, or a federal prison, well so be it. I echo Patrick Henry, "Give me liberty or give me death!" If dissent is fighting for my country, its future and the future for our younger generations, I will fight! Granny has the same concerns I have plus she has 3 precious little girls to safeguard. She won't go down easily either. So blog on, sign petitions, email our representatives, round up friends, family, neighbors to join the protests.
And in case anyone needs the emails of their reps, here is how to get them:
