BURNING ISSUES??
Several members of my family are very conservative Christians and have been led astray and deceived in their naivete by President Bush, his spin on family values, faith based initiatives and anti-abortion stand. Knowing only what the TV evangelicals preach on TV and their equally ignorant pastors, they think Pat Robertson and his ilk are godly men.
I have enough hassles with them without revealing my blog to them, although I do slip bits of information to them from time to time as I think they can accept it. I am beginning to educate them a little.
Some other family members and friends are Christians but not so ultra consevative, and several of them do know about and read this blog. I have been asked why Granny and I present only the liberals viewpoints, never the Christian opinions. My first thought response was "because this is a political blog, not a religious blog."
Second thought was "Many Christians are liberals to one degree or another; they are politically minded; some of our blogger friends have Christian views posted; so why not?" I will not make this blog a forum for religious debate, however. But in fairness to our Christian readers, I will post for them also. Bear in mind that not all Christians are evangelical fundamentalists and do not share the beliefs of Robertson, Dobson, and their cohorts.
Pastor Chuck Baldwin has a site on which he publishes his political views. A good article is his
"Are We Witnessing the Rise of the Fourth Reich?"
http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin281.htm
He compares the way Hitler used religion and the churches to aid his rise to power to the way the Bush administration is doing now. It is a good article; my only complaint is that he was too circumspect regarding the Religious Right and the Christian Reconstructionists (he didn't even mention their names, just alluded to them) and their undue influence in our government and with our leaders. But..the tactic worked for Hitler, why not for this bunch?

WA, I present (and represent) the Christian viewpoint. I just don't look at the Dobson and Robertson branch as Christian.
We don't see it so much over here but many of the commenters over on granny consider themselves to be people of faith who are disheartened at being lumped in with the zealots.

Here's one 'Christian' who agrees with you.
But then, according to several Christians I am probably going to Hell for not taking the Bible (written by MEN, not GOD, but that is a rant for another day) completely literally, so, what do I know??
Keep plugging away, Worried. There are people, including one "lapsed" Christian, reading and applauding you.
