Sago mining disaster (Media Matters)
I posted this earlier with a bad link. Trying again. O.K. It works. I just needed to go direct to the web site instead of my mailbox.
The American Family Association is one of the "Reverend"Donald Wildmon's endeavors.
They are claiming that God doesn't answer prayers for America because we only call for help when disaster strikes. Regardless of how you feel about organized religion or Christianity, the AFA obviously doesn't know much about the people of Appalachia. Most of their lives are centered around their local church. Right or wrong, they are committed in their faith.
He may have selected a bad example to make his point. Let's hope the good people of West Virginia notice.

"There are no atheists in foxholes" may be true. It certainly isn't the case from what I remember of the south.
Their entire life in these small, poor communities revolves around their church and there quite often are just one or two churches. Fundamentalist, evangelical, old fashioned.
For Donald Wildmon to choose this particular group as a target means to me he didn't think it through.
They're not suddenly calling on a God they've never given the time of day in the past.
