Sunset Commission

I'm throwing this out here without knowing much about it.

According to the OMB action group, many agencies will be forced to defend themselves before a Sunset Commission which will have the power to shut them down. From what I read, this could cover anything from OSHA to Head Start.

I'm all for managing waste but to me this sounds like a convenient way to dump programs they don't agree with. WIC and Head Start have been threatened constantly and I've had personal experience with both. They may not be perfect but they work and they're there for the poorest of kids.

I'd like to hear from any of you who may have followed this a little more than I.

Looks to me like they've already started...with FEMA! Aptly demonstrate that it doesn't work, and then...do away with it.

Next, disaster recovery brought to you by Halliburton.

    Hello Kvatch, our multicolored friend.
Haliburton, by all means! They have done such a marvelous job or restoring Iraq. You marvel at how they managed to squander, steal and defraud so much money and accomplish so little

Thanks, Granny. I'm glad you like them.

Re the post. According to some articles I've read Bushco and adherents want to reduce government to a manageable size and turn over many programs to "faith based" organizations (RR and CC??). Primarily run by the orgs. but funded by the taxpayers, ofcourse. They are already doing that in many areas. Guess they want to abolish even more. And ofcourse anything that benefits the poor is a "waste" as far asthey are concerned.
