Bush and The Hoover Institute

The man may be certifiable but he's also stubborn. Often the two go hand in hand. The Hoover Institute would love a preemptive strike against Iran. The very idea makes me want to crawl under my bed and stay there (with my kids) but we keep talking.

The Truthout article today says it well.

Echoing Worried American (who was echoing me in the post below), I'm sure everyone who is interested enough to read or comment here is already doing all they can but every little bit helps and moveon.org can muster a lot of signatures in a very short time. They may despise us but we will not be ignored.

My Congressman, who doesn't do everything I would like but is extremely approachable by his constituents, tells us

phone calls get the most attention - at least a tally of pro and con (doesn't necessarily apply to the White House though - see note below)

snail mail next - you can't hit delete on snail mail

personal email - I always get responses though - some even initialed by Dennis with a scribbled note. We're a barely Democratic district surrounded by rabid Republicans (Pombo is right next door and Radanovich is on the other side - we're beset).

mass mailings (moveon and all the other stuff we sign).

Mass phone-in campaigns (when we made calls to the White House last year over some issue or another, a friend was told by the Shite House switchboard that they were discounting California calls because they were usually prompted by organizations. That's beyond disgusting and it makes me wonder if the operator might have been a closeted Democrat giving us a quiet heads up. They might pay more attention if Kansas suddenly jumped up and started biting them on the butt.

I'm sure you know all this but I liked hearing it from him.
