"WASHINGTON - President Bush this week declared that he has the
power to bypass four laws, including a prohibition against using
federal funds to establish permanent US military bases in Iraq, that
Congress passed as part of a new defense bill."
[WA: Bush has established rules of his own or passed laws giving him virtual imperialistic powers and the power and authority to ignore the Constitution ("a g-d piece of paper") and ignore Congress. He has made himself and the presidency a supreme power.
ALL the presidential candidate frontrunners including Hilary and Obama have stated that if elected they will use signing statements to effect the same end, except McCain, and he is a hawk Bush clone. ]COMMENTS:

I don't know where a "strict constitutionalist" like Georgie W. got the idea that the president can add his own little footnotes to the bottom of bills.
Who has the authority to challenge this in court, and why haven't they?

Cowardice or compromise/deals with the ruling elite? You know the Golden Rule: them that has the gold, rules. Too many of our elected representatives have discarded (if they ever had any) their duties to constituents and jumped on the greed /power bandwagon. They're in bed with the devil and won't jeapordize their
prospects by bucking Bush. Only a tiny handful of Congressmen remain true to the public and the nation.

That would be the people who have sold us out so many times. Led of course, by "Off The Table" Pelosi! We can't fight Bush AND our own, yet we must if we are to survive!!
