WA: Ridiculous and Wrong, yes, but practised by the military. Many members of the military have been deployed 3 and 4 times, sometimes by volunteering but also by orders whether they wanted to or not. Marty On the Homefront's son was deployed for a 2nd tour in Iraq even though he was being treated for an injury for which the doctor ordered physical therapy as necessary for healing and that he was not fit for duty.
"The Army psychiatrist said he did not suffer from PTSD but mere "combat stress" "What in the hell is the difference?"
I'm told from a colleague (a psychologist) that they are being pressured to say "medical stress" so that they don't - are you ready for this? "Have a sudden uncontrollable outbreak of PTSD."
Or, as us dumber psychologists call it, another way of lying.

WA: Lying in many ways to save money. Some soldiers obviously suffering from PTSD have been declared suffering from a pre-existing mental disorder and therefore ineligible for treatment and benefits. A soldier has stable mental health issues upon induction which are exacerbated by the horrors of war? Does that mean that the war stress isn't responsible for his now severe condition?
Others get the Medical or Combat Stress gobbledegook so that the military can avoid treatment and benefits for PTSD and ship them back to active duty. Many who have actually been diagnosed as having PTSD wait long periods of time to receive treatment - or never get any at all ,and medical benefits are questionable. A nice one is the diagnosis of "Pre-PTSD", and also "mild", "moderate", or "severe" PTSD.
My thoughts and prayers are with your Grandson. 15mos and a 4th time? Freaking ridiculous.
