Victory for Net Neutrality - Update
The phone company filed a " letter of commitment" with the Federal Communications Commission in which it promises to observe Net Neutrality principles for at least 24 months. Now it's left to Congress to follow the FCC's lead and make Net Neutrality permanent under the law."
You can read the rest of the article from Truthout here. When I tried to access the original, it showed a "404" error code (whatever that is). You may have better luck. In any event, it's time for letters to Congress.
Save the Net!!
Update:
And while we're on the subject of victories, I just spotted this at Alternet. It's a partial list of our victories in 2006. Some I knew about, some came as a surprise. I had no idea, for example, that Bechtel had left its San Francisco home or that Halliburton was pressured into moving its annual meeting from Texas to Oklahoma.
Some of the triumphs are small, some larger, but they all add up and show that when we work together, we can make a difference.
Happy New Year - we have at least a few things to celebrate.
