Worried's War(s)

OK, as if I didn't have enough stress and hassles for today, the Computer/Blogger/Internet Wars have renewed hostilities. Once again I am threatening to throw Compaq out my 7th floor window.

First salvo, Compaq slowed down, not to a crawl but merely pulling itself along painfully on its belly. Dumped cache, deleted cookies, checked for defrag (it didn't need it), did the error check thingie, did all the things Microsoft advised. Searched "what causes a computer to slow down." Half the advice I didn't understand and the other half I didn't know how to do. I've noticed that most computer advice assumes the petitioner is a computer whiz, which I am not. Did one thing it advised, turned my bad guy guard dogs loose (which I am sure are toothless) to sniff out and destroy any nasties that may have sneaked past the protection walls. They found nothing.

Second salvo: Trying to post and edit on other blogs, the little up and down slide thingies refused to slide, stubbornly remaining in place and when I persisted in attempts to get them to move, popped up hour glasses. After reducing me to a gibbering rage, they would finally jump up or down but never where I wanted them to be. Also, deleting with the little back arrow, slow, slow, one letter at a time.

Third salvo: The bane of my internet existence "this page cannot be displayed". OK, I'll tolerate that when I'm surfing. But when I'm trying to access Blogger? Or one of my blogs? Or trying to return to dashboard? Get real! Then the maniacal gods of the computer universe thought to torment me further. When this confirmed lurker sought to comment on a blog I was reading, that same infernal page would pop up when I'd click on comments. Or, diabolically, would allow me to access the comment window, let me spout off at length, then when I'd click on publish, pop up the "page cannot..." and my comment disappeared into the wilds of the blogosphere.

Sorry PT. I tried. PT has several posts on morality that are truly excellent and inspired me to comment. I had a lot to say, expounding at length, and then it disappeared. Same thing on practically every other blog on which I tried to comment.

Petty sniping continues but those are the primary attacks.

This old woman has had enough hassles for one day. I'm going to bed.
