Is This President Guilty of War Crimes?

Rhetorical question of course to most of us reading here. This country has been guilty over the past few years of endorsing and carrying out most of the illegal acts we profess to despise in others. We began with the invasion of a sovereign nation under false pretenses (changed horses recently in midstream - now we're establishing democracy over there as a beacon to the Middle East), secret tribunals, rendition, illegal wiretapping, prisoners held in secret prisons on little or no evidence of wrongdoing. What are we becoming?

Norman Solomon writing in Alternet says it well. Evidently, even a discussion at high school level has the media up in arms. Why are they so afraid of the truth.

Personal note once again:

I've managed to catch a spring cold and have spent much of my time while the girls are in school resting, Merced is flooding (as some of you may already know), and my husband is back in hospital for the 4th time in less than 3 months.

The waters didn't reach us but several of our outlying areas are in bad shape. We have irrigation canals on the edges of town and at least 3 creeks running through the center. Our main creek (closest to me) has held but the levee gave way at one of the canals and I think one of the smaller creeks has more water than it could hold. It's rained for days.

It seems to be letting up somewhat today and we're supposed to have two clear days before it starts again.

All this drama to let you know I'm still around but you may not see quite as much of me until my life once again resembles normal.

Take care everyone,

Ann
