What happened to reading, to riding a bike, to playing in the woods or park, to flying a kite, simple things that once happily occupied whole generations of kids?

Why have we adults allowed this to happen?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17213045.post-59365775158386595392008-03-02T04:44:00.000-06:002008-03-02T04:44:00.000-06:00Granny, glad you are up and running again. Children undoubtedly do not realize that something so aoft and sweet and innocuous can kill them.

Dan'l; Computer games and TV have largely replaced outdoor games in many communities. Eventually the games become boring once they are mastered. My grandmother used to quote: "Idle hands are the devil's workshop", meaning that idleness (boredom) led children into mischief or wrongdoing. Children as a whole are natural thrill seekers, wanting excitement and "fun". In their innocent ignorance, they fail to appreciate the dangers of some actions.Worried Americanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15025693881754554346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17213045.post-58733705923475290272008-03-02T00:31:00.000-06:002008-03-02T00:31:00.000-06:00Underlying this and other such games, is a dissati...Underlying this and other such games, is a dissatisfaction with their life. All kids get bored, or want more at one point or another, but I believe this is another way of expressing disapproval of life around them - and that is OUR fault..(:The Future Was Yesterdayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06515544130113138363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17213045.post-43482611848374773052008-03-01T20:26:00.000-06:002008-03-01T20:26:00.000-06:00This (the choking game) isn't new but I didn't rea...This (the choking game) isn't new but I didn't realize it had resurfaced.

Keep an eye out for something called the marshmallow game as well, especially with younger kids. They stuff as many into their mouths as possible and then swallow. It sometimes blocks their windpipe and children have died.

Computer replaced and I'm back.Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17283823157675990935noreply@blogger.com
