I started to apply to a school district north of the city, and Mr. Pink told me there was no way I should go there. Apparently, there was a gang in the grade school that made the news recently (Mr. Pink works up in that area). <BR/><BR/>One of my students did a paper this month about the salaries of major league baseball players, comparing them as an example to those of teachers and police officers. Sort of clarified our priorities in this country.<BR/><BR/>So, two points. First of all, as the author of the piece suggested, teachers can't do this alone.
