My condolences to my Texas friends and to her family. I've been an Ann Richards fan ever since I first heard of her. Sharp, funny, and absolutely fearless. Texas should be proud.
Who better to write a tribute than fellow Texan Molly Ivins
From Alternet.
Ann Richards was simply a jewel, not only in Texas' crown, but the human race as well. I too, fell in love with the Lady the first time I ever heard her speak. That woman couldn't spell fear, I swear!! The human race lost a great Lady, one that cared for "the simple man and woman."
ReplyDeleteThanks for that. It was great. Love Molly Ivins, and Ann Richards.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P, dear lady!
ReplyDeleteI saw Clinton speaking at her memorial at the Capitol (Austin's) this morning and afterwards he went over to the family members to offer his condolences. What seemed to be a teenage granddaughter who kept wiping her tears with her handkerchief he bend down a bit and I don't know what he said but I turned to my husband and said, you know.. he is so good with that. He at least is genuine that he can understand people's suffering or sadness. Not like Bush who looks like an idiot because he doesn't know how to respond to people who are in pain. Figures! Clinton's grace and ease is such a contrast. I have not known Ann Richards at all and did not know anything about her until she announced her illness, but she sure seemed like a stand up woman who could appeal (and did) across party lines. Speak about gracious.
